نگران وزیراعظم انوارالحق کاکڑ نے کہا ہے کہ عمران خان اور ان کے اسیر ساتھیوں کے بغیر بھی عام انتخابات ہو سکتے ہیں۔ نیویارک کے دوران غیر ملکی خبر رساں ایجنسی کے دیئے گئے انٹرویو میں انہوں نے کہا کہ انتخابات نئے سال میں ہی ہوں گے، فوج کا انتخابات سے کوئی تعلق نہیں، خواہ مخواہ انتخابات میں فوجی مداخلت کا شوشہ چھوڑا جا رہا ہے جو بالکل درست نہیں، ووٹنگ کرانے کی ذمہ داری الیکشن کمیشن کی ہے، الیکشن کمیشن کا موجودہ سربراہ چیئرمین پی ٹی آئی کا ہی مقرر کردہ ہے تو وہ کیوں ان کی مخالفت کریں گے؟ جو توڑ پھوڑ اور آتش زنی سمیت غیر قانونی سرگرمیوں میں ملوث ہونے کی وجہ سے جیل میں ہیں۔
امریکی ٹی وی چینل سی این این کی اینکر بیکی اینڈرسن کو انٹرویو دیتے ہوئے انہوں نے پاکستان میں عام انتخابات کے انعقاد اور پاک امریکا تعلقات سے متعلق سوالات کے جوابات دیئے اور کہا کہ وہ آزادانہ اور منصفانہ انتخابات کو یقینی بنائیں گے، نگران حکومت یا کوئی بھی الیکشن پر اثر انداز نہیں ہوسکتا، اگر کوئی ایسا کرنے کی کوشش کرے گا تو اس سے قانون کے مطابق نمٹا جائے گا۔

انوارالحق کاکڑ نے کہا کہ مجھے یقین ہے جنوری میں انتخابات ہوجائیں گے کیونکہ آئین کے مطابق نئی حلقہ بندیوں میں دو سے تین ماہ کا وقت لگتا ہے، اس کے بعد حلقہ بندیوں پر اعتراضات کے ساتھ اس میں تقریباً چار ماہ لگیں گے، اس لئے اس مجوزہ تاریخ کا اعلان کیا گیا ہے، مجھے یقین ہے اس ٹائم لائن میں ہم انتخابات کرانے میں کامیاب ہوجائیں گے۔
ایک سوال کے جواب میں انوار الحق کاکڑ نے کہا کہ امریکا کے ساتھ تعلقات ہماری خارجہ پالیسی کا بنیادی جز ہے، ہم ہمیشہ ایسے راستے ڈھونڈنے کی کوشش کرتے ہیں جن سے ان تعلقات کو تعمیری اور مزید بہتر بنایا جاسکے، نگران حکومت ہو یا منتخب حکومت ہر کوئی وہ امریکا کے ساتھ تعلق کی اہمیت کو سمجھتا ہے، یہی وجہ ہے ہم ان تعلقات کو فروغ دینے کیلئے کوشاں رہتے ہیں۔ نگران وزیراعظم نے کہا کہ انوار الحق کاکڑ نے کہا کہ بھارت نے کشمیر میں 9 لاکھ فوجی تعینات کر رکھے ہیں اور وہاں کے عوام ایک ’بڑی جیل‘ میں قید ہیں جنہیں کوئی سیاسی حق حاصل نہیں، یہ صورت حال اقوام متحدہ کے منشور کے تحت حق خودارادیت اور اقوام متحدہ کے ریفرنڈم کا مطالبہ کرنے والی قرارداد کی خلاف ورزی ہے۔
