قازقستان کے صدر قاسم جومارت توکایف نے عوام سے ٹیلی ویژن پر خطاب میں کہا کہ قازقستان میں مارچ میں شروع آنے والا سیلاب گزشتہ 80 سالوں میں ملک کی سب سے بڑی قدرتی آفت بن گیا ہے. انہوں نے کہا کہ آج ملک میں ایک قدرتی آفت آئی ہے، جس کی مثال کئی سالوں سے نہیں دیکھی گئی ہے، یہ پچھلے 80 سالوں میں اپنے پیمانے اور نتائج کے لحاظ سے سب سے بڑی آفت ہو سکتی ہے۔ توکایف کے مطابق سیلاب کے باعث ملک کے دس ریجنز میں مقامی ہنگامی صورتحال کا اعلان کر دیا گیا ہے۔ قزاق صدر نے بتایا کہ ان کی تنقید اور ہدایات پر عمل کرتے ہوئے حکومت نے سیلاب کے نتائج کو کم کرنے کی کوششوں میں اضافہ کیا اور مناسب اقدامات کر رہی ہے۔

قازقستان کی ہنگامی صورتحال کی وزارت کے تازہ ترین اعداد و شمار کے مطابق، سیلاب کے آغاز سے، ٣٠٠٠ سے زیادہ نجی رہائشی عمارتیں اور صحن کے علاقے زیر آب آچکے ہیں، اور ٧٠ بستیاں ٹرانسپورٹ روابط کے بغیر ہیں۔ اس کے ساتھ ہی ٤٦٧٥٥ افراد کو بچایا اور نکالا گیا، جن میں ١٤٥٨٩ بچے بھی شامل تھے۔ ٨٦٠٠ سے زیادہ افراد سمیت ٤١١ واٹر پمپ اور ٦٥ واٹر کرافٹ کے ساتھ ساتھ ١٠ طیارے امدادی کارروائیوں میں شامل ہیں۔
