پنجاب میں آنکھوں کے علاج کے لیے استعمال ہونے والے انجیکشن سے کئی افراد متاثر ہوئے ہیں جب کہ حکومت نے تحقیقاتی کمیٹی قائم کر دی ہے۔ محکمۂ صحت کی قائم کردہ پانچ رکنی تحقیقاتی کمیٹی کے سربراہ پروفیسر ڈاکٹر اسد اسلم ہوں گے۔ مذکورہ انجیکشن لگوانے والے مریضوں کی بڑی تعداد اسپتالوں میں زیرِ علاج ہے۔ مقامی میڈیا کے مطابق اویسٹن انجیکشن شوگر کے مریضوں کی متاثرہ آنکھوں میں استعمال کیا جاتا ہے۔ حکام نے مذکورہ انجیکشن کا اسٹاک مارکیٹ سے ضبط کرنے کا حکم دیا ہے۔ رپورٹ کے مطابق مذکورہ کمیٹی 3 روز میں اپنی رپورٹ پیش کرے گی اور مستقبل میں ایسے واقعات سے بچنے کے لیے تجاویز بھی پیش کرے گی۔

پنجاب کے وزیر صحت ڈاکٹر جمال ناصر نے آنکھوں میں انفیکشن کے واقعات کا نوٹس لیتے ہوئے 5 رکنی کمیٹی تشکیل دے دی۔

کمیٹی کی سربراہی کنگ ایڈورڈ میڈیکل یونیورسٹی ڈاکٹر اسد اسلم خان بطور کنوینر کر رہے ہیں جبکہ دیگر اراکین میں ڈائریکٹر جنرل ڈرگز کنٹرول محمد سہیل، میو ہسپتال کے ڈاکٹر محمد معین، لاہور جنرل ہسپتال کی ڈاکٹر طیبہ اور سروسز ہسپتال کے پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محسن شامل ہیں۔ رپورٹس کے مطابق لاہور، قصور اور جھنگ کے اضلاع میں ذیابیطس کے مریضوں کو آنکھ کے پردے کے علاج کے لیے ایواسٹن انجیکشن لگائے گئے، تاہم یہ انجیکشن شدید انفیکشن کا باعث بنے، جس کے نتیجے میں پیپلز پارٹی کے سینئر رہنما چوہدری منظور کے بھائی اور ان کے دوست سمیت تقریباً 12 مریضوں کی بینائی چلی گئی۔

قصور میں چوہدری شبیر، میاں اسلم، توفیق اور نسرین بی بی نامی 4 افراد کی بینائی کو بھی ناقابل تلافی نقصان پہنچا۔

شریف ہسپتال میں انجیکشن لگانے والے ڈاکٹر عاصم گل نے بتایا کہ ایواسٹن کو صرف ذیابیطس کے سبب خراب بینائی بحال کرنے کے لیے استعمال کیا جاتا ہے، عام طور پر ایک مریض کو 3 سے 4 انجیکشن لگائے جاتے ہیں لیکن اس کیس میں کئی افراد نے اپنی بینائی کھو دی، متاثرہ مریضوں میں سے 3 کی سرجری ہوئی اور ان کی بینائی بحال ہوگئی۔
