جاپان کی جانب سے ساحل پر تابکاری پانی چھوڑے جانے کے تین ماہ بعد ہزاروں ٹن مچھلیاں ساحل پر مردہ حالت میں پائی گئیں۔ غیر ملکی میڈیا کے مطابق شمالی جاپان کے جزیرے ہاکوڈیٹ کے ساحل پر ایک میل تک مردہ مچھلیوں کو دیکھا گیا، خیال کیا جارہا ہے کہ مچھلیوں کی اموات 3 ماہ قبل جاپانی حکومت کی جانب سے سمندر میں فوکوشیما نیوکلیئر پلانٹ سے چھوڑے گئے ٹریٹڈ تابکاری پانی کی وجہ سے ہوئی ہے جس نے مقامی ماحولیاتی نظام کو تباہ کردیا ہے تاہم اس حوالے سے ابھی ماہرین کسی ٹھوس نتیجے پر نہیں پہنچ سکے ہیں۔

اس حوالےسے جاپان کے فشریز ریسرچ انسٹی ٹیوٹ کے محققین کا کہنا ہےکہ ہو سکتا ہے کہ مچھلیاں گہرے پانی میں جاتے وقت آکسیجن کی کمی کی وجہ سے مری ہوں ۔
